Federal Government Launches Applications for Advisory Group on Black Canadians’ Lived Experience

The Honourable Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, launched of a call for applications to become a member of the newly created External Reference Group (ERG) through the Supporting Black Canadian Communities Initiative (SBCCI).

SBCCI aims to support organizations in their work to help build capacity for Black communities across the country. Members of the External Reference Group will support this work by providing advice and insight through a critical lens that is representative of the lived experiences and priorities of Black Canadians.

The External Reference Group will be composed of up to 15 members from the not-for-profit, academic, public and private sectors. These leaders will be reflective of diverse backgrounds to ensure a wide range of recommendations and perspectives representative of the experiences of by Black Canadians across the country.

Members will be screened against established criteria and approved by the Minister of Families, Children and Social Development and will serve a term of two years, with the possibility of extensions by one-year increments.
